Valley Symphony Orchestra & Chorale

The Valley Symphony Orchestra & Chorale perform a six-concert subscription season in McAllen and in nearby Edinburg at the University of Texas Pan American Fine Arts Auditorium. In addition, they provide educational programs for Rio Grande Valley students. Critically acclaimed conductors, Dr. Peter Dabrowski and Dr. Christopher Munn, lead the 80-musician orchestra and the 110-voice chorale in exciting concerts featuring distinguished guest soloists.

Palmfest

In October, McAllen's Palmfest, an annual festival celebrating the unique cultures and vibrant history of Deep South Texas, is held at the new McAllen Convention Center.

This exciting international folklife celebration is a fun and festive weekend of music, ethnic foods, authenic cultural entertainment, children's activities and much more!

The University Theater at the University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg produces a series of plays and musicals during the school year, and the McAllen high schools present excellent theater productions on their stages. Regular performances by Rio Grande Valley Ballet are enjoyed throughout the year.

"The Christmastime Candlelight Posada," a full-scale international travel show, a Valley-wide talent show, and a free health fair round out a full season of Chamber sponsored events.

Slip into your Christmas spirit early in December, with the annual "Dias Festivos" Christmas marketplace at the Civic Center. Later in January, the Texas Citrus Fiesta fills the streets of neighboring Mission with parades, arts and crafts shows, a coronation and a costume show with all costumes made from Valley-grown produce!
